Breaking Chains - Week 2

Rev Monica Mowdy

Healing starts with honesty. It’s tempting to avoid the dark corners of our hearts, but true transformation happens when we allow God’s light to shine into our brokenness. Make your Lenten Journey be one of breaking the chains of Darkness by embracing the Light. In the name of the Father Son and Holy Spirit. Amen.

Discussion Questions:

1. What are some of the common ways that "darkness" can manifest in our lives, as described in the passage, and how have you personally experienced these forms of darkness?

2. In what ways does walking in the light of God’s truth bring healing and restoration to the brokenness in our lives? Can you share an example of how you have experienced this healing?

3. John 1:5 says that "in Him there is no darkness at all." What do you think it means for God to be light, and how does that contrast with the darkness we experience in the world?

4. How does the community of believers play a role in walking in the light? What are some ways we can support each other in this journey of healing and restoration?

5. What does it mean to "acknowledge the darkness" in our lives, and how does this acknowledgment become the first step toward healing? Why is this such an important part of the process?

6. Jesus says, “Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness but will have the light of life.” How does following Jesus bring practical transformation to your life, especially in moments of struggle or despair?
