“Envisioning and working towards a just and equitable kingdom.”
Scripture: Revelation 21:4 - "He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away."
This week, we had 4 small sermonettes from The Vine in relation to this scripture passage. As you watch the video and read this verse what does a just and equitable world look like to you?
Equality=the state of being the same
Equity=the quality of being fair and caring
1. What stands out to you about these definitions?
2. How do you describe the relationship between equality & equity?
3. What are examples of equality implementations you have witnessed? How were these examples successful? What were some of their limitations?
4. What are some examples of when you witnessed equity implemented? How were these examples successful? What were some of their limitations?
5. What are some examples of instances when equality might be intended to produce a just outcome but does not?
6. What criteria do you use to determine if something is equitable? How might you respond when someone uses a different set?
7. What is our collective commitment to equity, inclusion, and social justice? How does this commitment support our ability to meet and advance the church’s mission or purpose?
